Pupillary Distance (PD) is a measurement of the distance in millimetres between the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other pupil. PD is essential when ordering glasses as it ensures you are looking through the centre of the lenses. Ask your Optometrist to include your PD measurement on your glasses prescription, or you can measure it yourself.

Steps to measure your PD:

  1. Stand around 20cm away from a well-lit mirror. Place a small ruler in a horizontal position over the bridge of your nose.
  2. Line up the zero end of the ruler directly over the centrePD of your right pupil and measure to the centre of your left pupil
  3. Repeat a couple of times for accuracy and use an average for your final measurement
